Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?

As you may know, pediatric dentistry is a branch of dentistry that focuses on children and all of their oral health care needs. We here at Gallatin Valley Pediatric Dentistry specialize in pediatric dentistry to help the children in our community achieve excellent oral health and beautiful smiles. If your child is currently in need of dental care, you have come to the right place!

What Is Pediatric Dentistry?

Pediatric dentistry is solely focused on providing oral health treatments for younger patients, from infants to teenagers. The goal of pediatric dentistry is to establish a strong dental foundation that follows a child into adulthood, leading to a lifetime of healthy, beautiful teeth. We strive to provide a comfortable and family-friendly experience, especially for our younger patients, to prevent feelings of anxiety or fear. You may even find your child looking forward to their visits with us!

Happy little girl laying on bed and brushing her teeth Gallatin Valley Pediatric Dentistry specializes in:
•  Preliminary oral health exams for infants
•  Counseling on proper nutrition and oral hygiene
•  Counseling on habits like thumb-sucking and nail-biting
•  Monitoring the development of teeth and jaws
•  Space management after premature tooth loss
•  Emergency treatments after injury or trauma

Pediatric Dentist Vs. General Dentist?

While most general dentists provide pediatric care, they do not possess the same level of expertise. As a pediatric dentist, Dr. Justin and Dr. Joni have undergone an additional two years of specialty training. This allows us to provide complex and advanced treatments that address the unique needs of your child.

We also participate in continuous education programs for cutting-edge pediatric technology, like treatment with the Solea laser, external bitewing imaging, infant and child frenectomies, and orthodontic training. Advanced technology ensures your child receives safer and more effective treatments with little or no discomfort. Child-friendly equipment can also reduce anxiety and create a more enjoyable experience for your child.

Because we only specialize in pediatric care, you never have to worry about our focus being split. This means we may be better able to diagnose certain issues and catch certain problems earlier in kids than a general dentist. Our pediatric office is dedicated to providing your family with personalized, attentive care.

Your Child’s First Visit

Your child’s first visit, especially if they are an infant or toddler, is vital to their outlook on future visits. From our kid-friendly waiting room to our delicate approach, we strive to produce an overwhelmingly positive experience. This is just one of the many benefits of choosing a pediatric dentist!

The American Dental Association recommends scheduling your child’s first appointment with us by their first birthday at the latest. Unfortunately, many general dentists do not perform examinations until a child is at least three years old. Our early evaluations will ensure your child maintains excellent oral health from a very young age.

Your child's first visit at age one is similar to a well child visit at their pediatrician's office. During the appointment, we usually perform a comprehensive exam and review the proper brushing and flossing techniques. If we do diagnose any potential developmental problems, we will discuss potential treatment options.
