New technologies make it easier to prevent, diagnose, and treat potential dental problems. In fact, after one visit, you may find your child looking forward to their appointments with us!

Solea Laser

We are able to address most dental needs with laser therapy. This includes treatment of hard tissues (cavities) and soft tissue including infant frenotomies, biopsies and gingival reconstruction, which are done with minimal to no bleeding. The ability for us at Gallatin Valley Pediatric Dentistry to offer blood-free and anesthesia-free procedures is significant progress in dentistry.

Single Tooth Anesthesia with the Dental Wand

Dr. Justin and Dr. Joni understands that some children may have fear or anxiety associated with a trip to the dentist. We strive to provide a comfortable and even enjoyable experience for your child. In some cases, this may involve anesthetic technology like wand injections.

The Wand is a computer-assisted system for local anesthesia, which numbs the mouth and eliminates pain. We find that children prefer wand injections because they are significantly more comfortable than syringe administrations. This improves comfort, time-efficiency, and your child’s overall experience at our office.

Intraoral Camera

An intraoral camera is a relatively new piece of dental technology that can also be used to diagnose and prevent potential problems. A standard x-ray may not reveal enough information to make a proper diagnosis. With the use of an intraoral camera, we can capture a magnified image to identify problems that may not be visible to the naked eye.

Most intraoral cameras are shaped like a wand, which is easy to maneuver within the mouth. The images are projected onto a screen so you and your child can see what we see in real time. This allows you to take an active role in your child’s professional care.

Digital X-Rays

In dentistry, x-rays have been an important diagnostic tool for many decades. Up until fairly recently, x-rays involved a tedious film development process. The advent of digital x-rays has made this crucial part of pediatric dentistry even better!

Instead of a film slide, a digital x-ray utilizes an electronic sensor that we place in the mouth. The sensor captures radiographic images almost instantly, and with less radiation emission. If an image is insufficient, we can retake the x-ray without waiting for the development process. Digital images are also easy to manipulate, meaning we can zoom in on a particular area to diagnose minor problems.
