How the Tooth Fairy Can Make Dental Visits More Fun

Posted on 12/21/2020 by Dr. Joni
How the Tooth Fairy Can Make Dental Visits More FunIf your kids are at the age when they start losing their baby teeth, they probably know all about the Tooth Fairy. Traditionally, the Tooth Fairy comes to visit children who have just lost a tooth. While your child sleeps, the Tooth Fairy leaves money or a small gift under their pillow in exchange for the tooth. But did you know that the Tooth Fairy can also teach your kids how to take care of their teeth, and make checkups at our office more fun?

The Tooth Fairy Encourages Good Oral Hygiene

The Tooth Fairy does more than just take away your child's baby teeth. Tell your child that you work closely with the Tooth Fairy and that you send her progress reports about your child's oral health. You can relay lessons about oral hygiene “from the Tooth Fairy,” or if you really want to get creative, have the Tooth Fairy leave your child notes under his or her pillow containing tips on how to take care of their teeth. Let your child know that the Tooth Fairy only rewards children who have strong, healthy, cavity-free teeth.

The Tooth Fairy at Our Office

The Tooth Fairy is also on staff here at our office. If your child is not the biggest fan of dental checkups, let them know that for every trip to our office, the Tooth Fairy puts a star next to their name in her special book. Stars lead up to rewards, but you can be creative in making the rewards unique and personal to your child. We do not recommend rewarding them with candy or soda, though, as the Tooth Fairy and we all know that these items are damaging to your child's teeth. For more tips on how to get your child to look forward to dental visits, contact our office today.
